How to do things in Slate
One article per task, with pictures from a demo business. Pick a task below or search for it.
Getting started
Sign up, set up your business and go live.
Sign in, or reset a forgotten password
Sign in to the Slate console with Google or your email, and get back in when you have forgotten an older Slate password.
Review and apply your setup plan
Check the services, departures, boats and team Slate is about to create for you, choose which services to keep, and build them in one click.
Read your dashboard
See your last 30 days of bookings and revenue, the week ahead, today's sessions, anything that needs you, and what is left to set up.
Change your business name or time zone
Rename your business, set the time zone every time in Slate uses, and copy your booking page link.
Join a team from an invite
Accept an invitation to someone else's business on Slate, with a new account or the one you already have.
Switch between businesses
When you belong to more than one business on Slate, change which one the console shows from the account menu.
Take the console tour and find your way around
Walk through the nine steps of the Slate console tour in two minutes, replay it any time, and jump to any page from the keyboard.
Bookings & guests
Run the day: Today, the calendar, bookings and reports.
Run your day from Today: check guests in
See every session running today, open the next one's guest list, check parties in as they arrive, and find any guest fast.
Use the calendar and a session's manifest
See your sessions by day, week or month, open any session to see who is booked, and open its full manifest.
Find a booking
Search your bookings by reference, guest name, email or phone, narrow them by date or status, and open the one you need.
Read a booking: guests, payment and history
Open a booking to see who booked, when they are coming, what they bought, what they have paid and everything that has happened to it.
Check guests in, one by one or all at once
Mark a party as arrived from Today or from the booking, check in a whole departure in one click, or check in each named person.
Read your reports and export them
See your revenue, seats sold, no-shows and customers for any range of dates, then download a report as a CSV file for a spreadsheet.
Services & schedule
What you sell, when it runs, and who or what it uses.
Create your first experience
Add something guests can book, then give it a ticket type with a price so it shows up ready to book on your booking page.
Edit an experience: details, category and order
Change an experience's name, description, length, buffers or location, sort it into a category, and choose where it sits on your booking page.
Add a photo to an experience
Upload a photo for an experience so guests see it next to it on your booking page, or replace or remove the one it has.
Schedule sessions: the days and times you run
Set repeating times on an experience, such as weekends at 13:00, then fill the next 14 days with sessions guests can book, and delete times nobody booked.
Set your opening hours
Give each boat, room, piece of gear or staff member the hours they can run, a whole week at a time, so Slate only makes sessions inside them.
Add boats, vehicles, rooms, gear and staff
List what your sessions run on and who leads them, choose what each person can run and who crews each boat, then give them hours.
Add and edit locations
Add each place you run from, with its address and time zone, and keep the details up to date.
Team & integrations
Your team, your booking page, messages and connected tools.
Invite your team and choose their roles
Send someone an email invitation to join your business in Slate, as staff or as an admin.
Share your booking page: link, QR code and FAQ
Copy your booking page address, show its QR code, and add the questions and answers guests see before they book.
Create a booking link for one service
Make a separate link that opens booking for just one service, for an ad, a social post or a partner, with an optional price and end date.
Add booking to your own website
Pick where your website is built, copy the code or link Slate gives you, follow the steps for that builder, then check that guests can book.
Add your logo and colors
Put your logo, a banner, your colors and fonts on your booking page, booking widget and the emails your guests get.
Choose where Slate sends your alerts
Pick the email addresses that get Slate's alerts for your business, set quiet hours for automated messages, and check what was sent.
