Add online booking to a Squarespace site

There are two ways to take bookings on a Squarespace site. The booking widget sits on your page and grows to fit what the guest is doing. The Book now button opens your Slate booking page. Pick the widget if your plan allows it; the button works on every plan.

What you need

• Your code from Slate. In Slate, open the Booking page tab, go to Add to your website and choose Squarespace. Slate shows your code with your details already filled in.
• For the widget: a Squarespace plan that runs scripts in Code blocks. Squarespace allows that on its Core, Plus, Advanced, Business and Commerce plans.
• For the button: any Squarespace plan.

Add the booking widget

1. Copy the code from Slate.
2. In Squarespace, open the page where guests should book and click Edit.
3. Click an insert point, click Add Block, and choose Code.
4. Paste the code into the Code block, then click outside the block.
5. Click Save and look at the page in a private browser window.

Or add a Book now button

1. Copy your booking page address from Slate.
2. In Squarespace, open the page and click Edit.
3. Click Add Block and choose Button.
4. Click the button, click Attach Link, and paste your booking page address as the URL.
5. Change the button text to Book now and click Save.

If it does not work

• The Code block says the code is not supported. Your plan does not run scripts in Code blocks. Use the Book now button instead.
• Nothing shows in the editor. Scripts do not always run while you edit. Look at the live page in a private browser window.
• The widget shows but looks cut off. Make sure you pasted the whole code: it is two lines, and both are needed.

Check it worked

In Slate, paste the page’s address into Check my site. Slate reads the page, tells you whether it found your booking widget, and checks it again every day.
